What’s the difference between hiking the Huayna Picchu mountain and Machu Picchu mountain?

Most visitors that come to Machu Picchu dream of seeing the gorgeous views of the city if Machu Picchu from Huayna mountain. Because of this dream, it is difficult to get a permit unless you get it at least 4 months in advance. The little known truth is that hiking Machu Picchu mountain is a hidden treasure and hiking it instead of Huayna offers a more lasting experience. Machu Picchu mountain takes 4 hours, versus 2 hours on Huayna Picchu, the views from Machu Picchu mountain can not be compared to anything else. They are much better. From Machu Picchu mountain, you have a 360 degree view, you are at a higher elevation, the trail is well groomed, you can see the famous Inca trail from it and permits are almost always available for a spur of the moment hike. Hiking Machu Picchu mountain is always my choice and recommendation, when asked, I definitely tell people to hike Machu Picchu, and it makes a wonderful addition to your visit to the magical city of Machu Picchu.
