baner-tiponThis tour will take you to one of the most impressive hydrological structures built by the Incas, located at the south of Cusco. We start the tour by picking you up from your hotel at 9:00am and then we will drive for approximately one and a half hours until we arrive at Andahuaylillas. Here, you will find the “Sistine Chapel of Peru”, a church that is home to golden altars, paintings and numerous colorful ceilings. The chapel is simple and unassuming on the outside, but on the inside you’ll find masterpiece after masterpiece. We will then drive to Pikillacta, which is the only pre-Inca site in the area around Cusco; an extraordinary big complex built around 700 to 900 AD by the Huari Culture. Just a short walk away from Pikillacta is a small Inca site called Rumicolca, otherwise known as The Main Entrance to Cusco during the Incan Times. Our final stop of the day is Tipon which is said to have been a royal garden commissioned by Wiracocha. It is one of the most elaborate examples of agricultural terracing created by the Incas. These tall terraces which run up the narrow valley are irrigated by an aqueduct from Pachatusan, the mountain looking over the archaeological site. After exploring this enchanting place, we will then take you back to your hotel, making the tour last around 6 to 7 hours.
